Elfen Lied

Lucy is a special breed of human referred to as Diclonius, born in a scientific laboratory experimentation by the government.

 Lucy, a beautiful young mutant, is bred by the government to be the ultimate weapon. Armed with unfathomable powers, she escapes her handlers, but loses her memory in the process.

After escaping, Lucy suddenly appears on the beach where two teenagers, Kouta and Yuka, childhood friends (both with their own problems), find her naked, disoriented, and suffering from amnesia.

Faced with this situation, Lucy apparently develops a temporary split personality, and they decide to help her. Because of her innocence, sweetness, and the only word she says, "Nyu," they decide to call her "Nyu-chan," and she begins to live with them and gradually learn everyday household customs.

Although Nyu-chan is protected by Kouta, she is being sought after by special forces and by Nana, another Diclonius from the same laboratory, due to the significant investment she represents and because Lucy, with her personality, becomes a threat.

Now, with government killers on her trail, the disposition of a five year old mind, and a hair trigger for ultra-violence, Lucy and her young friends must unravel the dark secret of her legacy before it’s too late.

But Nyu-chan doesn't have that killer instinct; she's more "human," although she can reconnect her limbs when Lucy cuts them off.

Personal comment:

Elfen Lied, or Elf Song, is an excellent series, although due to its scenes of gore and nudity, it is not suitable for minors. I really like the relationship that develops between Kouta, Nyu, and Yuka, and the designs of Nyu and Nana are very good and exceptional. Although it's not mentioned in the series, I like to think they are sisters.

Critics have described Elfen Lied as “weird,” (Anime Planet), “surprisingly sadistic,” (Gamerz Edge), and “addictive” (Animesou). This seems to be an awesome anime title. "A must see..." should i say. ^_^
