Hack Sign

A young man known only by the alias Tsukasa wakes up in an MMORPG called *The World* with mild amnesia. This is the beginning of hack/SIGN

An online Network Game (MMORPG) called 'The World' its gaining great popularity. In this game all the characters can interact with each other, do whatever they want and adopt any player. but what if you are unable to disconnect from the game?

This is the story of Tsukasa, a young wizard type player who realyzes his disability to logout or disconnect from the game. Also, he doesnt know how much time has passed since and to make things worse, he can't remember his real identity.

While doing so, the Scarlet Knights, the system moderators group, suspect that Tsukasa has been working with hackers. Tsukasa finds a magical item, that grants him the power and administrator permissions around the game (He can move around without the need of portals).

The story becomes complicated when a mysterious character in the form of a cat not registered in the game has "gifted" him a monstrous ally that is capable of eliminating any player who tries to attack him. A strange girl also appears floating above a bed and Tsukasa seems to be the only one who communicates with her.

Other characters in the game are Mimiru, apparently a young fighter who uses a large sword as a weapon; Bear, a fighter-type character also with a sword who, due to the way he interacts, seems to be an adult in the real world; BT, a character from the adult sorceress role, and many more characters.

Tsubaru is the leader of the scarlet knights and she believes Tsukasa is a victim instead of a malicious user.

Although Tsukasa prefers no one's help, they all decide to help him (in their own way) in solving his problem and finding what they all believe can disconnect him from the game: The Twilight Key, a mysterious object that has been there since the beginning of the game itself but no one has seen it.

Personal comment:

Hack Sign is part of an animation project called Dot Hack that includes PC games and a TV animation. the anime has 26 episodes with a very interesting plot: Internet games. I like Tsukasa's feelings towards Subaru. I really enjoyed watching the serie.
