Gakkou Gurashi

Gakkou Gurashi or better I should say: "When zombie mets moe" anime show.  The story is around a group of student girls who are surviving a zombie apocalipse in the school.  At first you identify student Yuki Takeya going to classes, doing club events, chasing a dog, guided by the athletic Kurumi and motherly Yuuri. Everything seems normal. Yuki is even having conversations with her friends and Megu-nee teacher.

But sudenly you realize Yuki had a serious mental breakdown and She is oblivious to the fact that the group is in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. The nature or the origin of the attack zombie is undisclosure but we quickly fall in love with the female characters because of their moeness.

Every episode is about the "activities" of the living at the school club, which are in fact survival missions.  The gang plays along with Yuki to live every day at school.

The club is a way to scape of reality for the girls and Yuki is the one who keeps the group still bonded toghether by being cheerful, charismatic and funny. Yuki voice seiyu is very sweet and nice.

The show is so subtle that we don't see too much (or in a direct way) the actual zombies.  Later, in one of the excursions of the gang they meet (and rescue) another survivor: Miki Naoki and Taromaru, her dog (at the moment).

If you have read the manga, the story deviates a little bit, so in the animation some things and character appeareances change. But don't be sad and continue to watch the anime to the end which is quite emotive (Will tell no more for spoilers).

Things that I liked about the show: the attitud and kawaiiness of Yuki. I totally fell in love with her despite of her condition. But there were some things I didn't entirely liked about the show: First I understand they were playing beeing in a club, but Yuki never realizes the need to go to home, see her parents, sleep in her bed, change her clothes. All the time they are wearing the same outfit.

We see Yuki in a blue uniform, different than the others. Well, this could be explained that during the zombie breakout the school used winter (or summer) uniform and for Yuki's temporal line is still using the blue uniform instead of the green.

Another curious element of the show: Kurumi driving a car.  Ok, I have seen some youngsters driving cars, so not a big deal, but the car never runs out of gas.

Generally speaking this show is overall good with some sense of humor that does not fall into a classic moe school girls show or a zombie show completely.
